The future is here. No more pain designing a website or a blog. The Grid does it all for you. Push your content and let the engine work on designing the website for you.
The Grid is driven by Artificial Intelligence, so it can understand and make sense of your content. If this is not yet clear, let me go a little into the details.
The Grid is a new web service being launched by a team comprising of Brain Axe, Leigh Taylor. This is a crowd funded venture. Even you can be a part of the crowd funding this new launch. Just visit the website: The Grid.
The mission of this service is to get rid of the template driven nature of creating blogs and websites. They also aim to make the task of creating website easy and free from design skill requirements. For instance when you create a blog using WordPress or any other Content Management System (CMS), you rely on templates, themes etc. You then setup the theme with widgets and content at appropriate place. These needs good design skills. But the Grid team has taken a different route. They are relying upon Artificial Intelligence. The web service would analyze the texts, images, videos, urls that you provide and craft a responsive website. The whole thing takes the quote – “Content is the King” to the next level.
The services would be smart enough to understand the content. It would then create websites custom made for you in a couple of minutes. The Artificial Intelligence powered engine would rely on layout filters instead of templates. No dependency on template, just the content. Isn’t this amazing? If you have an iota of doubt, have a look at their own website : The Grid. Their AI engine itself generated the website. The website would be hosted in a cloud. Hence you can expect a good performance even during peak times. The content would also be safe as they would be putting it on the Github. This also means you need not pay a penny to access your own data. Also you are free to take your data to any platform you want. This is great, should you decide to move over to another platform.
They are also planning to open up their API to third party developers and designers. The beta version will be released by late spring 2015. Down the line they are going to extend their support to create e-commerce websites too. The future looks promising; it is just with time we will come to know – How Layout filters fare in comparison to templates.
Verdict : With the initial campaigns, the service looks quite promising. If they get it right, it is all set to revolutionize the web. A new era where Content and only Content would be the King. It all depends upon fulfilling the promises which they have made. Let’s wait to see a leap in technology and Artificial Intelligence being harnessed in day to day life.
